Once again a collaboration with Gav Strange, this time for a montage in the middle of Aardman's Shaun the Sheep Movie showing how an image spreads online and so one Mr.X becomes famous overnight in the world of hairdressing.
Gav worked on all the graphic design, I made it move and composited the majority of shots you see here. Keeping the motion graphics animation calm and understated was key for the directors - it had to fit in with the Shaun the Sheep world & aesthetics, so Iron Man style HUD's and Minority Report holographic computer interfaces were out of the question.
Matching the colours were a nightmare; even though everything looked dope in AE, when it came to grading there were major problems with colour spaces and we ended up rendering out masks & mattes for every graphic element to grade seperately. Tracking the phones and tablets in Mocha worked out for the most part, even if I ended up manually adjusting almost every frame - the whole thing was shot at 12fps, so this part wasn't too bad!
